Cedar & Dusk is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Measures we take

We have taken the following steps to support accessibility on this Site:

Color contrast. All body copy and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1. Our warm cream text (#F6E8D8) on the deep plum background (#1B1428) provides a contrast ratio well above the minimum threshold. Amber accent text is used only for decorative or non-essential UI elements where contrast requirements are relaxed.

Reduced motion.All animations on this site — scroll reveals, hero animations, string-light effects — are disabled when the user has enabled the "Reduce Motion" preference in their operating system or browser. We use the prefers-reduced-motion: reduce media query throughout.

Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements — navigation links, buttons, form fields, and CTAs — are fully operable via keyboard. Focus states are clearly visible using an amber outline consistent with our brand.

Semantic HTML. We use semantic HTML5 elements (nav, main, section, h1–h3, footer) to provide meaningful structure for screen readers.

Form labels. All form fields on the inquiry form include explicit aria-label attributes so that screen readers announce the purpose of each field.

Decorative media. The hero video and background graphics are marked with aria-hidden="true" so screen readers skip them. Where media conveys information (build gallery images), descriptive alt text is provided.

Known limitations

Placeholder gradient backgrounds are used in place of media assets until photography is loaded. These gradients are fully accessible and do not convey any essential information.

Technical specifications

This Site is built with Next.js and React. Accessibility relies on the following technologies: HTML5, CSS3, WAI-ARIA. We test with keyboard-only navigation and automated accessibility tooling.

Formal assessment

Cedar & Dusk self-assessed the accessibility of this Site against WCAG 2.1 AA in June 2026. We plan to commission an external audit as the site grows.
